Looking for a new camera

At the moment I have a Sony cybershot camera, I am looking to get a SLR to further my photography skills. 


This is a camera I quite like, Cannon 500d. 

Universities

I have looked at a few universities so far, I have seen Maidstone UCA, Reading, and Chelsea university of art. I am going to look at Bournemouth university soon and also Bath spa university in December.
